If someone wants to help and participate, he can always download latest source from the repository and modify a thing or two, for example the galaxy creation parameters and starting tech options which are quick to get into and show you and us if you're good at coding.

A lot of games are on SourceForge.net and it seems it works fine (I'm testing FreeOrion, for example).
