We completed the german version of our new game manual. If someone "bilingual" could have a look at it (maybe use google translation from the link below as a starting point) and translate it into english, it would be cool. The german version can be viewed (html-Version). Google translation of it . In attachment someone from our forums has made an attempt to translate an older german manual version into english, might be useful too. btw. one question: The term trade union is mostly used for labor unions as a synonyme. Does it sound weird to a native english speaker when he hears Heyoun trade union where union just means something like federation?

The german manual for the upcoming Alpha5 release is done. The OpenOffice source file for editing the pdf can be used by anyone willing to help with translating it into english. The preview linked in the first post probably helps with understanding the basics of what's written in the german manual: http://svn.star-trek-games.com/birth/Manual.pdfhttp://svn.star-trek-games.com/birth/Handbuch.odt (OpenOffice 3.0 file)

I'll give the Supremacy German translators a nudge and see if they're willing to help.

I just translated the first two pages into English, but I seem to not beable to load it as attachment. Generally I suggest to have the manual proof-read. I ran across several errors like doubled words (und und), spelling mistakes and also across some other errors like first it's Ditrium, then Deutierium (plant) and later Deuteron... What now?

Proof-read's always welcome. I was just inserting text made by another member of our team without checking it twice. I formatted the text and graphics layout. I went over the first 5 pages and corrected errors and rewrote parts of the text. You might want to have a look at it. Link are the same as above. well, to upload things, you need to zip them first. When leaving out graphics it should have size low enough to be accepted by forums software. Otherwise, there are free uploading services like Rapidshare, etc.. The latter would be better anyway since without graphics I'd need to replace text in the german version which takes time. For a simple text preview however, just copy out text and save it as a txt file. Thanks for having a shot at it. Very much appreciated

a preview of the german manual can be seen here as a html version: http://svn.star-trek-games.com/birth/ha ... dbuch.htmlModification and improvements to the html source code are welcome. Just attach them here afterwards. You can also translate it from there if you want.

I can't tell if this is still being worked on or not, but it's probably easier and faster to just write an English manual rather than translate from the German. The game is easy enough to figure out even with the shaky translations of things in the game that writing a new manual wouldn't be too difficult.

Google did: If someone could copy the html file, save it to his harddrive and reedit it with a text editor or html editor to fix the bad translations then it'll be done (minus taking screenshots from the english version and replace the german ones in the html file).

@theHussar: don't forget to use English sources while translating manual e.g. \Data\Races\MajorRaces.data -> descriptions of the Major Races. If text in data-files are better improved by you, just post a new data-file. If you're scrabbling about formulation maybe german wiki will have a good inspiration for it. I can deliver the pictures and make it English. maybe useful this xls-file which match german and english stringtable.txt http://bote-forum.square7.ch/wiki/index ... xcel-Dateimaybe also useful http://bote-forum.square7.ch/wiki/index.php?title=A-Z

Hi theHussar, would it be possible to get completed parts of the English manual because XB-70 began to fill up German Wiki with English content (see here viewtopic.php?p=68932#p68932). Your completed parts could be very useful therefor. Greetings and Thanks to you too
