BotF2 problem

for BUGs: http://botf2.star-trek-games.com/viewforum.php?f=32

Lloyd James wrote: When the game crashes, it automatically generates an error log, which you can find in your main BotF2 folder. Look for Error.txt or ServerError.txt; one or both of these files should be there. If they're not there, the issue may not be to do with BotF2 itself, but some other aspect of your computer. Or it's crashing before the log can be generated. Or the cause is something that isn't being checked for by the game.

To run BotF2, see also System Requirements

check your .Net-Version

(latest -atm 4.5.1- is recommend)

  • ASoft .NET Version Detector (Download) or Website (results left bottom with blue background) or

download .Net

Problems at Starting

  • do not change name of SupremacyClient.exe
  • maybe \Resources\Strings\en.txt is corrupt -> try the official one

Generating GALAXY

Log.txt

No more minor race definitions available (create more)

[7] WARN Supremacy.Universe.GalaxyGenerator - No more minor race definitions available (create more). Galaxy generation will stop.

-> reduce amount of minor races in game by...

  • decrease galaxy size or chose another shape than irregular
  • decrease star density
  • decrease minor dense
  • at least you can create more minor races :-) because atm there are only round about 150

Error.txt

System.OutOfMemoryException

not exactly known when this occurs

RAM

  • playing a huge galaxy might need more RAM as your computer has at the moment
    • playing with medium galaxy and many minors needs about 500 MB RAM
    • playing with huge galaxy and some minors needs about 1.600 MB RAM

Problems at Saving

see Auto Save

Multi Player

  • .Net version should be 4.5.1 (see above)

    • \Data should have the same values
      • for example 2013-12-23: TechObjectDatabase.xml has 1.059.918 bytes, dated 2013-12-23
      • for example 2014-01-10: TechObjectDatabase.xml has 1.059.918 bytes, dated 2014-01-10
  • for more see MultiPlayer

I'm running Supremacy fine under Windows 8.1 Pro 64 Bit version. Just a few known bug, e.g. saving games on huge or large maps throws the out.of.memory exception.

Maybe there are missing some software packages from microsoft. I've installed

  • the XNA Framework Redists in versions 3.1 and 4.0,
  • all Visual C++ Redists from 2008 up to 2012 in 32 and 64 Bit editions and
  • additionally selected ".Net Framework 3.5 (includes .NET 2.0 and 3.0)", ".NET Framework 4.5 advanced services" and "Windows Process-Activation Service -> .NET environment" under "Programs and Features -> Turn Windows Features on or off"
